Panama: Length of stay for non residents:
We have been coming to panama for the past 5 years and always leave after our 6 months are up. I recently heard, the panama gov., changed their rules, so that now you can only stay 3 months, and then you need to get your passport stamped, that you left. I was not told any had changed with immigration when I entered the country in October? So what now? Does anyone know is this new law effective immediately??. Is there any grace period?
Panama: Long Term Lease:

Panama: Senior Citizen Discounts?:
my husband n I travelled by bus to cr last year, and boarded the bus by choreara, and we got almost $10.00 discount per person, based on our ages. On the way back, we bought a return ticket in David, & we could not get discount no how. The law may have changed it used to be for every senior.
Colombia: MEDELLIN: Neighborhoods/short-term rentals:
hey walter, this is off topic, but it has been my dream to visit san andes!!, what is it like? are things expensive? how much for a flight from columbia or nicaranga. we live in panama for part of the year, but i found flights to san andres from panama about the same as a flight from canada to panama.
Panama: Security guard in the Westland Mall in Arraiján, was shot and killed on Friday afternoon, June 17:
was the shooter a muslim terrorist? sorry but most of the shoot outs in america appear to be of the nature so I am begining to expect that??.
Panama: Canadians - best banks for ATM withdrawals?:
i recommend to only use atm's at the banks, not the atms at grocery stores. my husband has put in a request for a withdrawal, he got a slip saying the money had been debited from his cdn, acct., but the machine never gave him the cash. so he tried again, and the same thing happened. Just a real hassle to phone the cdn. bank, go through a formal complaint the whole investigation takes like 6 weeks, plus u need all your documentation!! So i never take those chances anymore.
Panama: Water shortages and electricity outages:
read your post. Our house meets your requirement. Santa clara beach is 45 min. from our house, punta chame beach 15 min. we have a ocean view ,also. only we do not have pool, but our rent for 3 bdm., 2 full bath, AC, washer, dryer, near altos campana, & only 8 min. from the hwy, which saves on car expenses also. $800 per month for rent.
let me know if you are interested. kathy
Panama: Mike the mechanic in Gorgona:
sorry this happened to you. My husband is a mechanic from canada. he says you can get BMW parts in pc. also how does he "really" know or suspect that your ac pump is going, unless the bearings are making a noise. That is like saying "i think this light bulb is going to burn out this week". If he was going to purchase something on ebay for me, i would have him show me the item on ebay, and i would pay for it with my credit card myself.
Panama: Where to get really good Tacos?:
hi, we just had really good tacos last sunday. at a mexican restaurant in las Lajas, whic is a stones throw away from coronado, 1 hr. drive from PC, on the hwy.
Panama: overselling by expats:
HI John, I think your question was a great one, I have been living here 5 yrs., though not permanently, and am not bitter, nor twisted !, lol, Like every other expat, I too am here for a reason and it was a choice. The good out ways the bad. HOWEVER, you have to realize,, when we, expats, experience things, over n over again, that never happened to us in n, america, we can become a little jaded, OR we just need to vent a little on sites like this, to get it out of our system, & then move on. Like for example, we relied on a "friend" we made here, an expat who speaks English, but he had lived here along time, had more contacts than us. He was going to "help" us, get a quote for some cement work we needed to get done. What happened? well, I do expect to get scammed by the panamains, that is no surprise, " buyer be ware". But what I did not expect, is for the "friend" to arrange a kick back, at our expense!!!
There are lots of vultures. And boquetegirl is right, it is wise to not spell out too much financial info, you just never know. I would rent first, get to know the country, before I would buy. We are very happy with our location. a) good for resale b) quiet in the mtns. c) close to anemities & other expats. Boquete is nice to visit, but grotequely over priced, overall, plus issues with mold because of the climate. Lots of new expats, just stay in there house all day, if they live around coronado, because of the heat.
