Denmark: Moving from US:

If your family is from Denmark, why are you posting here? Do you speak Danish?

Denmark: Selling real estate property:

If you are not a citizen, they you pretty much must sell your house when you give up Danish residence. As a non citizen you have to get permission from the government to buy property, and I think these terms will be specified in that agreement. They really do not want foreigners owning properties as investments.

Denmark: Short-term home rentals? With cats?:

You can find some short term rentals on AirBNB that will allow pets. Are either of you Danish citizens? Otherwise, don't try buying property. Unless you are wealthy and paying cash, it is not going to happen. You need at least permanent residence and many years of credit history before banks will consider you.

Denmark: Moving my dog to dk:

You have to schedule an appointment with a veterinarian and get a full medical workup and then file import papers with Denmark. Once here you need liability insurance for your dog, and the dog has to be microchipped for identification. Vet fees can be expensive here. Be warned. It is possible to buy insurance.

Denmark: HR Admin Jobs in Denmark:

It is not going to happen. HR policies are very different in Denmark, and fluent Danish is absolutely required. Plus, you can not get a work permit for this career because it does not fit into any of the under served labor needs defined by the immigration service.

Denmark: Education:

We emigrated with our teenage children, so my knowledge of the elementary grades is limited. My wife teaches at a private elementary school. There are advantages to bringing your children with you from day one. Doing so means they qualify for Danish benefits in university. If they come later, I don't think they qualify. In major cities it is possible to obtain education in English at all levels, in government schools. There are many private schools that are government supervised, where the tuition is close to zero. Uniforms are unknown here. They are counter to the cultural values of independence and flat administrative structure. Teachers are addressed by first name. The lower grades used to have half days as standard, but education reform a few years ago lengthened all the school days. It is very common for all ages to share common facilities at a school, but they would not attend class together. They are also likely to be separated by floor or building wing. The smoking rate is higher in Denmark than other educated countries, but it is still discouraged. It is not common to see young teenagers smoking. I have never seen my children or their friends smoking. At work, a small number of my colleagues smoke, but never indoors. Denmark is a very safe and supportive place to raise children. Generally the social values are strong and we have never been concerned about our children exploring on their own or being out late at night. Students qualify for a flat rate unlimited travel pass, and they can explore quite far away.

Denmark: Moving with 3.5 year old:

I believe most of these nursery services are free or heavily subsidized in Denmark. For certain, schooling from kindergarten on is free. Like anyplace, housing is cheaper the further out from the city you get. Good towns for families that I know personally and can recommend are Hillerød, Allerød, Birkerød, Holte, Lyngby, Hørsholm, Farum, Gentofte Amager is the new place for city families Frederik$berg is really expensive.

Denmark: Apartment hunting:

I have had very good luck with AirBNB, and don't be afraid to move a little out of the city. Gentofte is really nice.

Denmark: HELP needed! Landlord accuses me and my girlfriend of damaging apartment floor and sent me an estimation of repair to email.:

I think you should slow down and not react quickly. Don't be frightened into making a quick decision. You have your deposit back, and it sounds like the Landlord was renting to you illegally. Danish tenant law is pretty favorable to you, so the burden is on the landlord to find fault with you. The time for the landlord to complain was before he gave you back your deposit. It would be ideal if you had photos of the apartment from your move out. But again, returning the deposit is usually a sign that the condition of the apartment is acceptable.
