Philippines: leaving Ecudor for asia:

I left the US 11/2 years ago and am now looking at the Philippines as a place to live. I am retired and would like reccomendations as to safe places near a beach and within a couple of hours of a larger town for shopping. I am single and travel alone. As a reference, I lived in Canoa, Ecuador, a small fishing and surfing village, a 6 hour bus ride north of Guyaquil. I would like a somewhat similar situation. I am a frugal person and am concerned about cost of living. Any helpful comments or thoughts are appreciated

Indonesia: Moving to asia:

I hope to receive information for the best place for me to start my life in Indonesia. I am N American, and have lived and traveled in Central and S America for the last 1 1/2 years and decided Asia may be a better place for me to retire. I would like to be near a beach, close to a larger city , not in a large city. I lived in Canoa, Ecuador a small fishing village 6 hour by bus north of Guayaquil and would like something similar. I understand I would need a sponsor to have an extended stay. Any helpful comments and suggestions are appreciated
