Colombia: Beware, EPM is coming to get you:

Once you cross that border, just south of San Diego, everything is screwed up.

Colombia: Happy Thanksgiving!:

Very funny and Happy Thanksgiving to you! I think I;m going to head to Subway for a turkey sandwich.

Colombia: Mail from the U.S.:

Hi f9ers, I have been happy with usabox.com, located in Miami. I have been using them since 2004 and am very satisfied with their service. I pay $10 a month for service, but they may have kept my rate the same, since I am a long time customer. I can get a DHL envelope of of my mail (under a pound), sent to me in Cali for about $24, arriving in one or two days.

Colombia: Buying gold and silver bullion in Colombia - any suggestions?:

I have an interest in buying physical gold and silver, and I want it where I can get to it, here in Cali. Importing seems too risky, so I would like to buy it here. In the US, there are several shops in every city and town. In this country of 48,000,000, I have so far been unable to find one. Can anyone suggest anything? Thanks!

Venezuela: Cheap Gold?:

Hi Folks, is this a reasonable idea? Bring into Venezuela $100 and exchange it in the black market. I don't know the exchange rate, so I'll conservatively guess 200 Bolivars to the USD. Now I have 20K Bolivars. On the web site goldrate24 it is showing around 7000 Bolivars for an ounce of gold. Could I now buy almost 3 ounces of gold, worth $3300 in the USA, for my original $100?

Colombia: Important Stuff to Bring:

Hi, here are some suggestions. I just reviewed what I had ordered, and then had shipped to me the last few years from the USA. Bottle of 500 aspirin, bottle of 150 calcium antacid tablets, a Cuisinart CPT-122 Compact 2-Slice Toaster, Gíllette Mach 3 Razor Refill Cartridges (half the price of Colombia), Gumout Regane Complete Fuel System Cleaner (if they have a car). Dollar Store light bulbs (4/$1), Wildfire 18% Pepper Spray 4 OZ Stream, Catnip (if they have cats), Amco Swing-A-Way 407WH Can Opener. Best wishes

Colombia: paying US bills from Colombian accounts:

You really need a USA bank account. For everyone else reading this - when moving to Colombia, do NOT close your USA bank or credit accounts, especially if they do not charge per month or year. You will also NEED a USA address. USABox in Miami is a suggestion.

Colombia: USD Status:

I am predicting that the USD ($usd on stockcharts.com) will stop dropping in the the 92-94 range, then head up for one last peak in the 103.50 region.
