planning to go to mex every year beginning next year to see where i want to retire. hopefully in 5 years. will be fluent in language by then. not now. i like Puerto Vallarta because i choose to be on or very near the water - but not lake chapala. thought i would go to Guadalajara first. never been there. are there any areas to live in there that are not "busy city" areas? thx.

hi califblonde. i have the same q's you have. have you had any luck? i do not want gringo city either but do not wnat to be stranded in the mdidle of nowhere. thought PV might be nice. on the beach and close to Guadalaraja for big city stuff. i am a trial lawyer in east texas.

plan to retire to mexico in 6 years. want to go each year until then to find the perfect place. my choices are PV and a few others. need tropical warm climate. QUESTION: i have only one week a year to travel. should i stay in the typical tourist hotels or is there a better way to search? not fluent spanish yet but will be before i move. income about $2000 month.
