Panama: 'permanent'' tourist:

We just went through this on Thursday 3/9/2017. Things have changed. The are trying to stop the "permanent tourist" border hops. You get 180 days on a tourist visa. If you try a border hop they will not let you back in. We were almost rejected. The only thing that saved us was we contacted a Panamanian lawyer and got a letter stating that we had retained her services for getting permanent residency. They were not going to let us back in until we showed them the letter.

Panama: Trump Won - I'm outta here!:

You really have to put boots on the ground. Various parts of Panama are very different. I live around Chitre and love it. I couldn't take living in Panama City but I love to visit. Boquete and Coronado both have too many Gringos (makes things much more expensive). Bocas del Toro gets too much rain for me but some people love it. Come see for yourself.

Panama: Puerto Armuelles:

Check out the Tsunami Inn. My wife and I like the place.

Panama: For anyone considering Panama- we just moved there...and love it!:

My wife and I spent more than 10 years deciding to retire. We visited Mexico (7 times) Belize, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas and St. Martin as well as Panama. In the end we decided on Panama. Having said that, Panama may not be right for you. You simply need to go see for yourself. No one else knows exactly what you want or need.

I use John Panama. His phone is 60653942

Panama: Affordable Rental:

You can live in Panama on that budget but probably not in the places you mention. The more people from the US or Canada in any given area the more expensive it is. Your best bet for that budget would be on the Azuelo peninsula or up by Santa Fe north of Santiago. It maybe a little more "native" than you would like. If living among the locals works for you and you can live with the inconveniences of country life, that budget can work. If you have to be surrounded by people who look and think like you and you need the conveniences of city life you'll have a hard time making that budget work.

Any Claro store.

Lighten up. What is truly dangerous is over zealous censorship. These posts are peoples opinions not medical research.

Panama: Electricity off/on 20 times tonight so far:

There is no such place as paradise on this earth. Don't waste your time looking for it. Find a place that works for you and be happy.

Panama: Carnival advice:

While it will be an experience you'll not soon forget, being in Las Tablas during Carnival will not give you a good picture of how it is to live in the area. We just returned from Las Tablas and are moving to the area in a month or so. We love Panama. Different parts of the country have very different climates and weather. Keep that in mind. Las Tablas is basically a farming community. Other than a few festivals during the year it is a pretty quiet place, some say boring.
