El Salvador: looking for a job:

Thanks, for my laugh of the day. I assume you meant your verbal skills were good. As we all can see, you are a bit challenged by written English. If I may offer a suggestion, look into the use of capitals and punctuation. If you can develop a bit more skill with those, then you may tell us that you speak English very well. :)

El Salvador: Moving to Playa San Diego:

My wife and I are also interested in moving to El Salvador, but we watched a tv program recently about gang life in ES. The program told of the murder rate being the highest in the world. It also said the whole country is under gang control and the gangs charge each family a monthly fee for not robbing and killing them. I do not find that same information here on the forum. I think I shall have to go and see for myself what is the truth about life in ES.

Panama: mortgage:

I have read it is very difficult to build in Panama because: 1. Contractors will not use blue prints I draw. They insist Prints come from a Panama architect. 2. I can not hire craftsmen. They are sort of unionized in that they will only work for a Panama contractor. Are those allegations true? My next question is as an expat can I get a mortgage in Panama? I can afford to build or buy on a cash basis, but my financial manager advises me to do a mortgage and that way if something goes wrong a year down the line I can walk away loosing only my down payment.

Panama: Looking For A Home:

We are a retired couple is the US.We want to live in Panama,as close to the canal as possible, we need a few acres to secure our privacy. We are having trouble locating such properties. We want to be away from Panama City and we have heard Colon is good place to avoid also.

El Salvador: weapons:

I am certified by the NRA and the Illinois State Police as a firearms safety instructor. I carry a concealed firearm almost constantly. Am I able to carry my gun if I visit ES?

El Salvador: Mentor?:

I am retired, I get social security and I have significant savings. I am visiting El Salvador in April assuming my next cancer screen comes back clear. I want to rent a house on the beach for a week and spend some of that week looking at properties to buy. I will be bringing my wife and maybe my two older brothers if it is relatively safe to travel in ES. The wife and I are experience travelers in central America. We have been visiting for years and it is always much safer than the headlines claim. I am concerned about gangs, volcanoes, storm surge from the ocean. Anyone have any recommendations for me?
