Norway: Residence permit:

I am a US citizen living in Norway with a resident permit based on family reunion (my husband is Norwegian). I have been fortunate to have worked in Norway but my contract has finished. The job search in the Oslo area has been very difficult and therefore, I am considering going back to the US and searching for a job there while my husband stays in Norway. Can I be outside of Norway for several months and still maintain my residence permit? What, if any, are the restrictions?

Hi Ky, I found some info that I thought might be helpful: Tax resident If you stay in Norway for more than 183 days during a 12-month period or for more than 270 days during a 36-month period, you will be liable to tax in Norway on all your capital and income pursuant to Norwegian tax rules. You are then ‘tax resident’ in Norway. You first become tax resident in Norway from the income year in which your stay exceeds 183 or 270 days. Norway: Salary resource:

I'm from California and recently moved to Norway. I am in the process of seeking employment and would like to know where I could find a good resource for salary information based on job/industry type in or around Oslo. I'd like to make sure that my salary expectation is realistic. I've been told that people here make more money but so far, I haven't been able to verify how true that is. Cost of living seems to be very high, but salaries don't seem to commensurate with the standard of living. Any thoughts? If you know of a good and accurate website, please let me know. Thanks!
