Australia: Thumbnail calculations?:
I'm considering the possibility of taking a posiition in Sydney that would include salary/benefits that would total something around AUD$200k/year.
My decision making is clouded by the fog that covers the differences in taxes.
Can someone suggest a formula for calculating take-home pay, when I don't know if I'll be entitled to a "Living Away From Home Allowance" exemption?
It looks like the formula is $16182 plus 47 cents on every dollar over $62,500, but I'm not clear if the gross amount of income is reduced by the amount contributed to the "super-fund" for retirement or is that an after-taxes account? My sense is that it must be after-taxes but I'm not sure.
Thanks in advance for specific advice or referrals to reliable advice.
