Belize: Hello everyone:

Obviously coming to visit is the obvious good idea, but at least in my case I'm trying to learn as much as I can before I come visit so I'll have a pretty good idea where I want to look. When I come visit I want to have a Realtor lined up to show me properties and be mentally willing to buy while I'm there if necessary. That isn't possible unless I learn as much online before I get there.

Belize: Bugs?:

I'm more concerned about the snakes and spiders. Everyone jokes it off but I wonder how many have been seriously injured or died from poisonous bites?

Belize: Moving to Belize:

I think he has moved so technically he should find a new forum!

Belize: Cerros Sands:

I would be interested in more info, too. I'm looking at Cerros Sands and also Orchid Bay which is across the Bay from each other. I thought they might be isolated, too, but it is close to the Mexico line for shopping at Sams, the mall, and Micky D's.

Belize: Building loan from Belize Bank:

I hadn't considered the option of borrowing from a US bank. How does it work? Do they use the house as collateral?

Belize: Cayo district off grid advice?:

Is there a website for your community? (Since you are off grid that may be a dumb question, but thought I would ask)

Belize: USD$2000 - Realistic?:

We too are looking at Corozal. I have two questions: 1) Do you feel isolated or bored living there? and 2) Are you familiar with Orchid Bay, which is a community development we are looking at in Corozal? Would we find better prices renting or buying a house from an individual owner versus buying into a community development?

Belize: Spiders and snakes exist in Belize?:

I understand....I didn't mean to crack everyone up. I'm from Virginia but live near the Ocean. We discuss sharks more than snakes!

Belize: I don't like Spiders and Snakes!:

Is there anywhere in Belize that is less likely to have siders and snakes? I would love to live in the areas with more land, fruit trees, etc, but I figure it would be infested with snakes. Am I overreacting to all of this? And is Ambergris Caye a better choice to avoid "unwanted nature"?

Belize: So much info,,,true??:

I agree with you that prices for rent and buying seem high. I keep hearing about one US dollar equals two dollars of Belize money, but when I look at houses for 200,000 that seem like shacks I'm wondering where the bargain is.
