Grenada: Working in Grenada:
Gena, unfortunately I do not have information that will help you as I came to Grenada after I retired but I heard another person in your position recently say it was hard/impossible for them to be able to work. I suggest that you also post this question via the university. There are a number of couples where one person is studying and the other is living on island - they may have more specific information. I hope this points you in the right direction to get the information you need. Yo might also inquire within the Grenada government to the department of labor. Best of luck. Warm Regards, Candi
Grenada: relocating to Grenada:
yes, this is true. We have used George's Broker and Agent a couple of times and were very pleased with the advice and service we received. Their website is http://www.buildgrenada.com/gat/index.html and local phone number is (473) 440-6678. They do this all the time and were very helpful. We brought in our goods in December 2015. The best advice I can give you is to thoroughly inventory what you are bringing in. We numbered everything and kept purchased goods separate from "used" goods that already belonged to us - IE items numbered under 200 were used, over 200 were new purchases. I made a spreadsheet with item number and what the item was (if a box of goods, I identified the major items in the box). I also had a copy of every invoice for new items sorted by box number. It was tedious setting this up an recording everything but it made getting through customs really easy and after the agent opened the first few boxes to check the contents against the inventory, they were satisfied and just stayed to check off the boxes against our form. If you have any further questions you can reply here or reach out to me via email at candi.licence@hotmail.com. Good Luck and welcome to Grenada!
Grenada: Horseshoe Hotel?:
Hi; The property now belongs to St. Georges University and is called The University Club. It is only open to Faculty, Staff and Associates.

Sorry they won't be able to celebrate there, it was a lovely hotel. Lots of other wonderful places to stay, though. Wish your parents the very best for me.
Grenada: dancing:
I just saw a sign that Le Phare Blu is doing Salsa lessons and free dance on Sundays. Not sure if that is what you already know about or this is new info,
Grenada: Possible move from UK- worried about schools:
Let me do a little research for you and I will get back to you. I've got friends who should be able to provide some recommendations.
Grenada: Possibly moving to Granada:
I'm not sure what your lifestyle is but if it is reasonably modest 2800 per month should be OK. Grenada is a higher cost of daily living than some other islands. There is a thriving expat community in Grenada with some Americans, the bulk will be British, also Germans. It's easy to fit in, Grenadians are very friendly and outgoing. Grenada has a very large Catholic population but there are also Lutheran and Seventh Day Adventist churches there. (I'm sure there are others as well, these are just the ones I personally know about.) I could get you in touch with one of the ministers and you could get more information from them. If you can, bring a car in. I believe you can bring it in at the onset without paying duty. Purchasing a car on island will be expensive between VAT and duty which used to be as high as 100% (before VAT was established, you'd 0need to check what's current. I would recommend that you initially rent until you get a feel for the island and where you want to live. There are a lot of lovely areas to consider but you'll also want to think about how much driving you want to do to get groceries, how close to town you want to be, etc.
Grenada: transport dog US to Grenada:
I will be traveling to Grenada, West Indies for 2 months next year (prob. Jan-Feb 2015) trying to see how I can get 90 lb. dog from US (most likely Miami) to Grenada and then back. Ship/boat that would take him and us preferred. Appreciate any guidance/insight. Thanks, Candi
Grenada: Moving to Grenada:
Hi;
I've been to Grenada many times (but don't live there). In general, I think the cost of living is high compared with other areas within the Caribbean so you might struggles on an $885 income. Also, I've applied for residency and they do a thorough police background check. Unfortunately, I do not think they would be open due to approving you due to your circumstances. Please use these comments and potential guidance only and continue to do your own personal research.
