Mexico: Customs Documentation of what you're bringing with you:
Rules may have changed since I drove across the border from the USA, but what I did worked exceptionally well. My husband marked the plastic boxes we used with numbers from 1-? and I wrote down the general contents of each box. The customs agent who looked it over, viewed through the clear plastic boxes at items more or less at random and he stamped the form and wished us a safe trip to our final destination. Your suggestion to use Excel seems perfect, assuming each column is labelled, e.g. box #, contents. That's it, folks. Have a good trip.
Mexico: Looking for Long Term Rental in Lake Chapala:
Lake Chapala consists of several villages. There are rentals in all areas and all areas have plazas. If you are referring to either Ajijic or Chapala, those two are the most popular and you might need to keep an eye out on the billboards at WalMart, Lake Chapala Society, and Super Lake. Rentals go from about $300 USD to well over $1000, so take in a B&B for awhile and see what you can find. September is still good for finding rentals. By November, you'll find it tough.
Mexico: Mail Service in Manzanillo:
There are professional services that tell you they can forward your mail anywhere but they don't tell me enough about what happens on the receiving end. Anybody recommend a good mail service from US or Canada to Manzanillo, or within Mexico?
