Philippines: Philippines Education Rating:
Why is it that the Philippines cannot even get into the top 100 list of countries in math, reading and science? If this country wants to pull itself out of "3rd world status" it better start focusing on educating all the large young population that is impoverished. See below website on this. http://www.businessinsider.com/trump-criticism-of-us-public-schools-pisa-results-2016-12
Philippines: where to safely retire in the philippines59:
This does not address "where" is safe to live in the Philippines but does shed some statistical facts on how safe or unsafe it is to live in the Philippines compared to other countries. Many good things about the Philippines in this report, but comparatively speaking, the Philippines is not an overly safe place to live. Hope this helps the forum in making decisions about the Philippines.

Philippines: Politics:
Did anyone see on CNN today that Aquino vetoed a bill sent to him by Congress that would increase the entry-level nurse salaries by about 40% ? No issue, as I feel they are deserving as they currently make about $411 per month. The reason he gave was it would "undermine existing government pay structures and result in wage distortion"....code words that the other Government employees would expect pay increases, too. The absurdity of it all is that on February 19th he himself signed Executive Order #201 to raise their salaries by 50%!! Was that just a ploy to try and win their votes before the election? How daft can this guy be? You can't make this stuff up! Dumber than dirt, if you ask me.
Philippines: Confused about Moving to the Philippines:
CA Teacher - I just don't get how his comment of "Beware of expats on the internet who brag this place up. Usually they are selling high priced real estate, books, videos. They really are the scum of the earth.", is at all derogatory.....just seems rather factual to me and trying to help others new to this place keep an open and realistic skepticism that will keep them and their money safe. I for one appreciate that kind of practical advice.
Please enough of this 'Politically Correct' stuff. The neo-con corrupt politicians are out of the US Presidency and the Philippine Presidency as well as many other countries with elections of late. The movement is away from this liberal nonsense that has been taken too far! Hopefully the pendulum can now start swinging back to the middle somewhere and stop there.....if we are lucky!!
Philippines: Philippine Elections:
Looks like the Liberal Party somehow stole the VP position from Bongbong Marcos. The irregularities are staggering. OFW have Marcos with about a 50 percentage point lead over Robredo with Cayatano in second behind by more than 30 percent. Watching Rappler's results had Marcos with a 7% lead over Robredo with more than 25% of the vote counted in PH. In less than an hour, Robredo leaped ahead of Marcos. This just does NOT HAPPEN. Statistically, almost impossible. Who the heck is Robredo, anyway? Never any press of significance during the campaign.......will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Philippines: Money Laundering Fallout:
LarryKar, not sure what you mean by the Philippines becoming "blacklisted". I have not heard of this, can you explain? Thx
Philippines: Getting pain medication in the Philippines:
Grey67 - I would think you could obtain pain medication from a Manila doctor for your chronic pain. Is that no possible?
Philippines: Building a house. Air conditioner help:
Catabisis: The higher the Seer Rating, the more efficient the A/C is. meaning the lower the electrical consumption.
Philippines: Would I Be Happy Living in QUezon City?:
I had written a reply to this post but decided not to post it......
Philippines: What the Philippine ExpatExchange Forum is about and what it is not:
good grief. Do you really need a moderator to look out for our own selves? This is what is wrong with the direction the America is heading down. Always looking for someone else to take care of us. I can take care of myself and my family. If someone insults me, I don't need anyone else to "take care of it".....I can deal with it myself. Suggest you do the same. BTW, I wasnt in the US Military, were you?
