China: Beijing Apts:

I am trying to get an idea of how much it costs to rent an apartment in Beijing. China World Trade Centre has rent for 1 bdrm at $2200/mo and at Kerry Ctr its $3000/mo. Since my office will be in the Kerry Ctr, was wondering if its easier to live in the business district or should I venture elsewhere to get a better social perspective. What other areas should I consider given I do not speak Mandarin and I will probably be working lots of hours? I do want to experience the culture of China and am afraid I might miss out on it if I am sheltered away in an expat building. However, I do not want to add to a long work day with a long commute. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

China: Beijing pollution:

Hi, I'll be moving to Bejing in June for two years. I have read a bit about the amount of pollution and poor air quality, especially during the Spring sandstorms. I am a contact lens wearer some want to hear from any others who have problems with the grit. Should I go ahead and invest in lasix or see how it goes? Thanks, Don
