I agree with the other reply, taxis are almost free in Uralsk, the bus journeys can be a bit tough when the weather gets warmer. The weather is only harsh if you are an old lady or a new born baby.

If your husband is Shell or TCO then plenty of woman's groups going on. Plenty of other stuff during the summer, bike trips, canoeing, any number of charities you could get involved in. Or even baby sit my two if you want:)
