Vietnam: Seeking cooler location in Viet Nam to retire..........:

I'm an expat living in northern Thailand and after 13 years of suffering too high temps, I'm seeking a cooler and high elevation country to relocate to.. My basic requirements are: 1] A cooler [higher elevation?] location. 2] reliable infrastructure. Internet, electricity, clean water, minimal environmental pollution. 3] Expat friendly immigration and officials and locals. 4] Low cost of living. 5] some expat shopping ops 6] quiet, mellow locals and a fringe location away from the main stream. 7] decent affordable medical services 8] easy access to some foreign shopping for occasional western food etc Is this doable in VN?? and a few location recommendations would be appreciated.

After cooking myself in Chiang MaiThailand for 12+ years, I find myself looking for a cooler climate in a neighboring country. requirements........... 1] cooler climate [hill stations?] with an expat friendly community. 2] reliable infrastructure.........electricity, internet with decent speed, and good water supply. 3] convenient shopping for fresh foods and occasional western treats. 4] moderate cost of living 5] convenient airport and decent roads to it. Does this exist in Malaysia??

Ecuador: any expat friendly areas within an hour from Cuenca??:

Hi, New to this forum and I'm an expat from US now living in Chiang Mai Thailand, which is similar to Cuenca in that it is a popular and affordable retirement destination. I am currently investigating the possibility of at least visiting Cuenca EQ with the idea of moving away from the heat of northern Thailand and would like some feedback. I got a hundred questions, but I'll only start with one. Being a 'fringeguy', I prefer living near, but not in an urban area. a half hr to an hour from a decent sized city with some elevation to cool it off would be ideal for me, so does anyone know of any expat friendly places near Cuenca that meet my criteria?? Preferably a fixer upper house and lot with some nature around it and neighbors that are not too close, but are there if you need them. Thanks in advance for any info and if anyone is interested in Chiang Mai Thailand, then I'll be glad to advise.

Ecuador: Prescription medications in Ecuador:

Any one know if alprazolam [xanax] is available by RX or otherwise in EQ??

Malaysia: retiree financial requirements:

Yeah, the Philippines is easy to get retirement visa and low cost of living, but bottom line.................You get what you pay for [if you are lucky]. I can say that as I have been going there for 3 decades as a tourist, but maintaining a residence for 8 years and have seen the infrastructure crumbling and the corruption and environment destroyed by humans as well as nature with 26 typhoons a year. Strongly advise a long term tourist visa before investing in the retirement program
