Portugal: contact person needed:

Hi, CraigandMicky, We are applying for a Type 1 visa. I wish you were correct in assuming that a contact person is not needed. the consulate in San Francisco will not submit our application without a contact person. Sounds like it is a risk to the contact person, but really, no financial obligation exists for them. They just need to be willing to say they know of us. There is no risk to them at all. Especially since we have a substantial and secure retirement income. We are still hoping to make this work for October. b&stravelers

Portugal: Long term rentals in Porto area:

We are planning on retiring in the Porto area in early 2015, and would like to establish contact with reliable, professional agencies which can help us look for and secure a rental apartment or cottage. Any suggestions from expats who have found good people to work with would be most appreciated! Also, any estimates on what one or two bedroom apartments or cottages would rent for would be welcome. Thanks in advance for all you help. We look forward to being in the Porto expat community in the near future! B&Stravelers
