Ireland: Advice on moving to Ireland:

Hi FlowerFairy - I know this is a Ireland forum but would very much appreciate, as perhaps many of the readers here might as well, what your experience of trying to move to Italy was like. You noted it did not work out. Any color on the topic would be great! My wife and I have traveled Italy and of course it is very enchanting with the culture, history and natural beauty. Best, Mike

Ireland: Moving to Ireland:

While may not be in line with our Ireland theme, are there other success stories of non-EU citizens moving to the England/Ireland/Italy/France etc..without a work visa and then earning the right to apply? My wife and I are US citizens looking to move to the UK/Europe. I have extensive IT Sales experience (Virtualization,Cloud, Storage, Networking etc..) and she with Banking/Credit Union/Commercial and Mortgage Loans.

Ireland: American in Ireland:

Irishroan610 - we live on Virginia and would love to discuss your farm rental. My email is mike.mccrane@gmail.com. Mike

Ireland: Residency in Ireland?:

Hi mcdon380, Your desire looks to be similar to my wife and I. We have used this site and our own research around the idea of US Citizens wanting to live in Ireland. While I have great-great grandparents that immigrated from Ireland, that does not allow me to automatically become a Irish Citizen. Very sad and clearly the Irish Government does not want US Citizens to live or retire there. We too have thought about England instead and would appreciate what you find out about that. Have spent time in England yes it's very enchanting with tremendous history and natural beauty that rivals Ireland. My email is mike.mccrane@gmail.com if you would like to connect. Best, Mike

Ireland: Rain (and Mold?) in Ireland:

KatalinaT - MeaChair54 is spot on with her reply! You have no idea what you would be missing by not at least visiting for a 2 week vacation. My wife and I have traveled this grand island a few times and every time we are heart broken when it's time to leave. The word magical does not even approach the true essence of Ireland. You absolutely must experience for yourself and there will no regret. That I can promise! Cheers, Mike

Ireland: Petition !!:

Billy Lawless has no presence on LinkedIn that I could find so that is a concern. Is he on Facebook? He is Chicago based in the US? Let's get the facts straight on his background so we can mount a concerted and joint effort to have him help our cause.

Ireland: Citizenship through foreign births registry?:

Meachair54 : I was born in the USA and a citizen with Irish heritage on my fathers side. My Great Grandparents on my fathers side were both born in Ireland. They met and married here in New Jersey in 1884. My father does not have Irish citizenship nor do I. Do I have a easy path to apply for Irish Citizenship based on this or am I looked as any other USA citizen applying? Happy to make my case to Ireland (Department?) if you think that is the best course. Thank you in advance.

Ireland: Trying it out:

Depends on your target location in Ireland and what you want. I have traveled around Ireland in the Spring and early Summer with perfect sunshine weather. If you want 80 degrees and sun 99% of the time, move to the Caribbean! In my opinion, weather is only one factor on where to live.

Ireland: Finding a job in Ireland:

I have done some research on this topic and as Donie notes it can be a challenge for a US citizen to gain work in Ireland. Since there are many US companies that have a strong presence in Ireland your best path is to get the job offer while in the US for the Ireland based jobs. Easier said than done. Here is a article explaining the large number of US companies that are also in Ireland. Does not show the list but I'm sure Google searches will reveal. http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/mar/05/ireland-attracts-soaring-level-of-us-investment

Ireland: Visiting Ireland !:

Puckboy99: So how did you get Irish citizenship? Are you a EU citizen or parents are citizens?
