Turkey: Residence & insurance - the latest?:

Hi folks, Chatting with some expats yesterday I heard that health insurance is a MUST now and you have to show that it's valid for 1 year (i.e. pay up front - not monthly). I logged into Randevu this morning (3 May) and it presented me with the information that 29, 30 May and 1 Jun are all full! What have peoples recent experiences been? 1. USD / mth? 2. Insurance? 3. Appointments? (FYI I'm renewing) Thanks!

Turkey: Relocating:

I think some of the replies are misleading. Whilst they are correct in terms of the law what isn't pointed out is that hardly anyone (Turks included) abides by the law. In terms of money it's a very relative issue as is the concept of thrifty. I'd surmise that the people who have responded have their own places. Sharing can dramatically reduce the rent costs. 1500TL is easily managable. It's not glorious living to be sure.
