United Arab Emirates: Beds in UAE- equivalence to US sizes?:

beds are different sizes, some are longer and narrower (European sizing, readily available from IKEA in Dubai at Deira City Centre) but the 'twin' mattresses i bought were shorter and wider, still i was able to squeeze american twin size sheets on it the length may make it impossible to squeeze an american sheet onto their queen/full type beds; check out hte IKEA website (even in the UK) which will likely give you the centimeter sizing and you can convert it to figure it out good luck--we are from san francisco and lived in dubai for 5 years; a year later we still miss it as do our kids ages 6, 8 & 11

Global Expat Forum: Any advice on Norfolk, VA?:

Our family with 1st, 3rd & 6th graders are moving back to the US after 8 years, and we are orig. from California thus we know nothing abut Norfolk...neighborhoods, schools, buying a home, etc? Thanks for any advice.

Hong Kong: American school (ais) vs. International school (hkis):

our family with a 6th grader, 3rd grader and 1st grader may be moving to hong kong soon; do you have any comments about the differences between ais and hkis? also, what would be some of the good locations to live for either of these schools? thank you for your comments.

United Kingdom: Living in London:

the previous reply gave good ideas about what websites to check, but unfortunately with that weekly budget to live anywhere in greater london will be impossible on your own; if you find a flatmate you will be in better shape going out for drinks or dinner is very costly and your transport expenses will add up as well the best free things in london are all the parks and museums and in that respect, the free entertainment is always available if you have some extra savings in the beginning, that will help to tide you over until you get used to the high cost of things and are able to find better-priced alternatives don't mind what people say about the weather--even if it rains it is usually sunny in the same day! good luck!
