Nepal: Appropriate clothing in Nepal:

I was there for a few weeks last summer, and felt most comfortable in long skirts or pants, and shirts that covered my shoulders. I'm not sure it's necessary exactly, certainly folks are used to tourists dressing as they would in their home country, but few Nepalis I saw were wearing shorts, or even skirts that were shorter than their knee. Thus, I didn't feel comfortable wearing them. My partner, who is nepali, was easily identified as having returned from the US for wearing shorts.
