Floridablanca.....either Baricha or Zapatoca (like the small towns too)

Colombia: Bucaramanga:

Here 6 yrs plus and 92 or so is the hottest I remember. Whats important to remember is you never need a jacket, sweater, or even long sleeve shirt here, regardless if 6am or 10pm. For me, and I guess thats just my preference...Bogota's altitide still gives me terrible headaches, Cartegena and Baranca are way too hot, Medellin is....ok but shorts, sandals, and tank tops are put away with the sundown... This place .for me, is pretty damm perfect

Colombia: TAX OR NO TAX?:

Sorry, but there is no simple answer to your question, whether you use caps or not. Two points, I have roughly the same income and have paid Col. tax the last two years. Secondly, I would place little or no credence on one sentence pat answers furnished by an immigration attorney....like calling a plumber when your car wont start.

Colombia: Tax Responsibilities as Retiree in Columbia?:

Ok...short and sweet and I have no bones to pick with any poster...not yet. I too retired here with just a ss check and small 401k..which I havent hit up yet. I do file a US return and for the last 7 years have paid 0 tax.. I file mostly because i want no trouble when I need to get a new passport. Heard one of the things looked for is consistant filing of tax returns. Now, onto Colombia. Sorting through the labrenth of regulations is daunting. You need to find a good accountant...of which there are many..who feel they work for you, not necessarily for Bogota. If you dont own properties, dont keep a huge bank account here and dont work, you're probably safe from paying a hefty tax here. Depending on the dollar strength re the Col. peso, you may pay a tax on your SS benefits...its just how it is...but thankfully it not a big deal...the accountant fee is usually more than the tax owed. Realize everone has different baggage coming down here and just because I dont have a problem filing in both locations, doesnt mean another may not run afoul of the system. This is just my experience and hope its helpful to you in making a decision.

Colombia: IRA Distributions:

Believe my IRA dist. was taxed by Colombia. When I received the completed return back from the accountant, the adjusted gross income box on the copy of the US return was circled and used to compile my Colombian return.. So, its not chapter and verse proof, and my apologies to those who wont believe anything without such documentation, but I'm pretty sure my tax here was affected by taxable IRA withdrawals.

Colombia: I'm thinking about it.:

Totally agree with Living in M. If you pay 2000 bucks on a 1900 per month ss check, you've got the wrong accountant.Paid way less...way less than that the past two years and my "deductions were not that great..Also, with the dollar graciously increasing in value re the cop, now under 3000 (hopefully thru year end), your gross income will be markedly less than last year (based on a fixed income)

Colombia: Glue for cédula de extranjeria:

Yes a new one its free

Colombia: Mail Delivery in Columbia cities:

National mail delivery (4/72) exists but its iffy. More reliable if you use the postal codes (ck. internet for Colombian postal codes). GPS would come in handy as the one way streets could drive you crazy until...memorized... City to city GPS is kind of useless as theres usually only one way to get anywhere...
