Uruguay: Where to by food grade diatomaceous earth?:

A friend got some food grade somewhere so I knew it was here. I got some from the Drougeria but I don't think it is food grade so am afraid to use it in the garden (I don't want my cats digging in it). I know the food grad DE is safe for pets and people, but don't think the borax is. Something to consider if you have pets or are worried about the little creatures outside. (I could be wrong but think it's toxic to animals).

Uruguay: Zika:

I swear I had the zika virua last year but my doctor said there were no documented cases. They didn't test me. I wasn't pregnant so the symtoms went away in a week or so. I thought it odd that my eyes were so red, got an unusual rash and was all achy. Like a cold but with the red eyes and rash. I live in Neptunia next to tons of water and tons of mosquitos that love me!

Uruguay: Moving Company reccomendations:

Does Uravan require they pack your things for you - door to door?

Uruguay: Moving Uruguay:

You have to know Spanish to get a job in Uruguay. We pay our yard person what equals about 3-4.00 US dollars an hour. Not enough to get by. I think he has several jobs. Uruguay is the most expensive S American country. without knowing Spanish you will have to pay someone to help you to obtain all your documents and it costs a pretty penny. Every time you turn around. There is another expense. I know a young couple that did "couch surfing". ( yes I think there is a website www. Couch sitting.com or something like that) where you stay at different peoples home and may help them with their garden or work the land during your stay. You can get a feel for the country and check it out before committing. We have lived here for 3 years and find that without knowing Spanish, it is very very difficult! There is no "press 1 for English" Best wishes for your new adventure.

Uruguay: Getting settled in Piriapolis:

It is summer now!

Uruguay: Likes/Dislikes Uruguay:

The summer here in Uruguay is nice but short compared to California. The winters are COLD and long. No, it does not freeze but with the wind and humidity -it is bone chilling cold. I think I feel it more because in the states you go from heated car to insulated heated home. Not so much here. Even after sealing the drafts around the Windows, I still have to wear long johns IN the house for many months. I have never worn long johns in Northern CA. There are some nice days in between the cold days, but the cold season is long compared to Northern CA, much less Southern CA. I am a summer gal so these long winters are difficult for me to get used to. Summer season is Nov-Feb. and even in November I was wearing my boots.

Uruguay: Trump:

Trump coming to Uruguay? Am I missing something? The Trump Tower? Or something else! Crazy Farmer, I am surprised by your comment! Yes, I am tired of PC (soooo tired of PC! Emphasized!). Trump does have an entertainment factor and I certainly would not want to mess with him. I am still counting on the USA choosing a better leader. I have two or three in mind after the last debate. I am still able to cast a vote as I think the U.S. Still has a place in our world politics.
