Mexico: Mosquitos:

DO NOT overlook the DANGERS of the pesky mosquitos. I have been living in Chiang Mai Thailand for the last 14 months and you DO NOT want to get dengue fever like I did 4 months ago!! I lived in San Miguel de Allende for a few years and I understand that dengue is being sprayed for each rainy season now. I have no idea how prevalent dengue is in Mexico but just be mindful. I am returning to Mexico very soon and so this topic is near to my heart... and my blood .ha ha. I was never a worrier about such things as mosquito born diseases, but after you have something like dengue, well your perspective and habits changed immediately!!

Colombia: A new kid on the block. Maybe:

Hello from Thailand. Having lived here in Chiang Mai for a year and Mexico for 2 years, I have come to one very obvious (for me) conclusion. I like latino Culture much better than Asian Culture. I am researching my next adventure and rather than return to Mexico I thought I might give Colombia try. The criteria for me and of equal importance are: cost of living, weather and safety. On paper things can look "good"or not so good. Numbeo.com tries to address the cost of living as well as safety. Weather is pretty easy to get information on. All this wrapped up equals the quality of life I am looking for. I am interested in either full-time beach life or city/pueblo life. Not fussy at this point. Medellin, Manizales, Chinchina, and Santa Marta seem to float my boat (on paper). As you know the population and lifestyles are quite different from each other in these places. Right? A nice warm welcoming English speaking expat community would be nice. As well as warm friendly locals! As a retired single man, friendship and sense of community is important for my next destination. From my ramblings above, does anyone have any thoughts on choosing a city, that fits me, to call home for at least a year? Thanks!!

Mexico: Cheapest cost of living?:

Hello Sioux... Sorry I am late to the party here :) so you think $500 is cheap? Maybe in high fashion area in DF and Guanajuato $500 is a decent price but elsewhere that very high for just a studio.

Colombia: pensioner visa:

This thread has to win the prize of the most confusing thread on an expat forum. Any expat forum. Jajaja moving along.... Hola from Chiang Mai Thailand. I have lived in Mexico for two years , now Thailand and Ecuador and Colombia have been on my mind for a while. Now that I know my pension is legally enough... Can anyone direct me to a website that lists rental properties in Colombia..Medellin in particular please. Cheers.

Thailand: I am moving to Thailand!:

I have never visited Asia before..I currently live in Central Mexico ..2 years now. So my "move" is 2 suitcases. I sold the kitchen sink years ago. My question this time is cost of items in Thailand..specifically: mens shirts -casual, Levis jeans, walking shorts, a 54" smart TV, a 27" high end computer monitor, a good inkjet printer and sunscreen. :)) ALL these items in MX are very expensive... I want to know the cost of replcaing all these items please.. and just how many clothes if any, I should buy in USA before departng for Thailand. Cheers.

Thailand: khanom:

A tad late on my part! I am heading to khanom next week. Are you still there?

Ecuador Welcome Forum: Ecuador Vs Mexico:

No. This is not a world cup question I would be interested to hear about life in Ecuador Verses Mexico - or even better Cuenca verses San Miguel de Allende would be perfect!! The usual topics interest me: safety, cost of living and climate. Cheers!

Ecuador: Copa Airfare:

We all know that airfares change like the weather on any given day in Cuenca. Specifically, the fare I paid on Copa from Mexico City to Quito was just $385 6 weeks ago and now $709 !! Can i assume that the fare will go back down..soon.. even for a while.. anyone flown this same route?

Ecuador: Via help:

I am moving to EC and have a few important questions. I am a dual citizen of UK and USA. I currently live in Mexico. It would APPEAR that i can arrive in EC on a 90 day tourist visa and then begin the Pension Resident Visa AFTER i arrive in EC. OR: I can begin the immigration process via the EC Embassy in Mexico City. if the above statements are true.. what is the better way of moving to EC? A loooong shot here -does anyone know of an attorney in Mexico (I live in San Miguel e Allende) who can help with this immigration process? I need a police background check from MX and the UK - how on earther to I begin this process? Last question.. it seems I may need to present my UK birth certificate.. and have "apostilled" bless it somehow. I am concerned that this may have to be done in the UK????!!! Cheers in advance!!
