Panama: Looking to Rent in Torio:

Curious. I have been reading these posts for a month. Everyone talks only about the cost of living in panama. Does anyone ever move there because it is a great place to live. Pretty, good food, nice people, fun activities etc. Sounds like a bunch of old farts counting pennies in between eating rice and beans;)

Panama: Panama/Costa Rica Border is closed:

When i travel in asia i use a little cheapy phone for local calls and text msgs. Just buy a lical simm card and buy minutes as needed at the 7-11. Do you revommend bringing that phone to panams and if so is it easy to get a local card. My t mobile android is fine for email but have to pay for calls if not in a wifi zone. Thx.

Panama: First Recon visit:

Darlene. Id love to see that list also. Took your advice and booked at hotel valle del rio. Thx. Steven

Panama: bank advice:

Went to banco general and citi today. Both told me i cant open an acct with tourist visa. Need to apply for permanent visa and both suggested i hire a lawyer which seems silly as i was a lawyer. Citi also requires an id card. If anyone thinks there is an easier route please advise. Should i go to panama embassy ( immigration ) and enquire? Or hire a lawyer. Any suggestions on an attorney please advise.

Panama: My recent trip to Panama conclusion:

Hi. After four trips to asia ftom my home in sausalito, ca decided time to see panama. After a few days in PC will drive thru to Boguete as looks really beautiful and cooler. Can someone recommend some beach areas along the pacific that are quiet and beautiful. Prefer avoiding big resorts. Thx Steven

Panama: Loking for new contacts:

Anyone have any thoughts on hitting the beach in the San Blas isl instead of bocas del toro? Thx. This site is great as so informative. Steven

Panama: Must Leave:

Interesting post. I have visited thailand 4 times in the past two years, and also constantly here how you can live on a song. Sure its a hell of a lot cheaper than san francisco, but if you want to live a normal interesting life, have a few hobbies, travel a bit etc i recommend you budget significantly more than you read on line. You can always live on air, but we didn't work our whole lives to simply exist someplace. My first trip to panama in two weeks. I know i won't like PC and worry it will be too hot for my tastes, but i am looking for a part time home not full time. Maybe columbia or equador cooler?
