Philippines: Property taxes:

Take your title to the Registry Office next to City Hall in Sta Monica. I think it's about P250 to get copies of property records. If liens are on it, it will identify. Also the property tax office in City Hall can help.

Philippines: Palawan info:

I have a friend who has a small 1 bdrm apt for P7000 a month unfurnished. You can get furnished as well. Depends on your needs. Hard to find something until you get here and network. Puerto has PLDT DSL on fiberoptics but you have to have a landline. The rest of the province is Globe or Smart wireless. Globe works best in El Nido. You can get MAXSURF999 and get a decent dl speed and good for 7.2GB. Happy the help if any questions.

Philippines: Palawan and Puerto Princessa rental Housing:

Snowy29 is right. Depends on the level of comfort you require. There are a lot of condo communities opening and some are rentals. If looking for a house you need to look online in olx.com or cruise around neighborhoods looking for signs. Mostly word of mouth at sari sari stores. Most rental contracts are for a year with two months deposit.

Philippines: Public Transport:

You can catch a bus or van service everyday. Just wait by the highway. Once at the terminal in Puerto switch to the Sabang service. Trip will probably take three hours.

Philippines: Purchasing Real Estate:

You can go to the provincial Land Titling/Registrar Office and pull adopted the title for around P200. You can also have someone local do it for you. The title will tell you if there are any remembrances, lines etc. Downside is you will need the Title number and owners name.

Philippines: Auto Accident:

She'll be lucky if all she has to pay is transportation costs. She was at fault and needs to settle or the headache and demands will escalate.

Philippines: Dual Citizenship:

Pretty sure what they will do is swear in the Mother first which they do on the spot and then the two kids. Technically Mom is already a citizen at that point. My humble opinion.

Philippines: Property title (deed) - Palawan:

Welcome to Palawan! There has been a suspension of land title transfers since last year due to land grabbing and scams. The provincial govt has been directed to clean up the records before titles can be transferred. The suspension just got extended until further cleanup is done. They are remapping. You can still go to the Title and Registry office by City Hall and get a copy of the existing title. This is a must! Only costs about P200. At least you can determine if the Title ans sale is legit. While there you can confirm what you need to do to start the purchase and transfer process. Wouldn't hurt to get a lawyer to review your purchase documents. Don't trust an agent or 'fixer'. Go with your wife and pull the docs yourself. It's pretty easy. Also don't purchase any land that has a Barangay Certificate. This is govt land and you are only getting a one year lease renewable annually. If you build on it they can snatch it away. Hope this helps! Let me know if any questions.

Philippines: Looking for 2 bdrm house for rent around Puerto Princesa:

Hi KingL I saw a 2bdrm house on OLX.com this week. It's in a fairly new subdivision in central Puerto. They are asking 25K month. Select Real Estate Palawan and you should find it. Don't trust realtors. Most are wannabes and scammers. Your better off driving through neighborhoods looking for signs. Let me know if you need more info.

Philippines: Living costs:

Aborlan is 30km south of Puerto Princesa. It's a very small farming and fishing village with no real town, just a Palenke (Market). Unless you find a foreigner with something to rent you probably won't find more than a hootch to rent.. Quite a few foreigners down that way and a few small resorts that might be willing to charge weekly or monthly rates.
