Nicaragua: paperwork for Nica residency:
Hello all. For applying to get Nicaragua residency everyone needs some important papers from their country of origin. birth certificate, police record and health record. all of them need to have an apostille. does anyone know if they need to be translated to spanish before submitting them? our country of origin is USA so all documents are in English. If they need to be translated, does the translation need to be notarized with a stamp? thank you. Zivile
Nicaragua: freight forwarder:
Majicjack,
earlier in this post you mentioned about registering a vehicle and that it can not be registered if you are not a resident. if we are flying in a being stamped a 90 day can we purchase a vehicle in Nica and have it registered or legally ours or do we really have to wait 6 months or so to get residency and only then make a purchase?
we are not retirees so residency application process would be different and i believe more involved. I have heard that if you spend $30K as a visitor in nica you are granted residency. Sounds like a lot of BS to me, but do you know if there is any truth in that?
Nicaragua: the big move:
Hello
I'm new to this forum and am impressed with the amounts of information generously shared here. However I am quite lost in finding specific information that I need.
Well first of all we are trying to move to nicaragua (me, my husband and our dog) permanently late sprint or early fall of 2015. our plan is to rent for about a year and find a piece of property to purchase on the pacific side of the country. there are about a million questions we have about the move to nicaragua, but some of the first and main would be lawyer. can anyone recommend a good, reliable lawyer in nicaragua? the one who deals with international real estate purchase. we have been recommended to go through the embassy. we are making a move from usa and we are not retired or even close to that.
I would love to start a conversation with expats from usa that went through the whole process of immigrating to the country, bringing their pet over, property purchase, aquiring a residency status etc.
thank you
Zivile
Nicaragua: The Canal:
It is unbelievable that without any research done to see how this will or will not affect the environment a project of this scale can be approved. It is unbelievable that countries like USA does not require any proof of so called 'no harm to environment' project. This will not only affect Nicaragua, it will have damaging affects to all Americas. I am extremely upset about this project and am hoping that it will never break ground.
Nicaragua: Expat issues??:
thank you magicjack and keywestpirate for honest description of what a third world country is like. it all makes sense and is obvious in theory but can be very deceiving once you are there and once you are a fresh gringo there. it is not easy to have no trust in nicaraguans that seem to be the sweetest people you met in your life. we are yet to make our permanent move there. as much as we love traveling there I do understand real life is different. we will have to learn how to say 'no' many times a day and how to double check every legal transaction.
