Philippines: Entry to Philppines:

what I have learned is, when you come to the Philippines you must also have a ticket to depart from the country or a return flight because you cannot stay here. You never use that ticket. Hence the name "THROW AWAY" ticket came from. That is what I had to do when I arrived last year. I am still living here and have the out going ticket but never used it. I don't understand there reasoning but I remember at San Francisco airport, they asked me for it then I got my boarding pass to come here. It sounds dumb because they love tourist but don't want you living here maybe. I don't really know what that is all about. I have my ACR-1 card and it says tourist. I am in the process of applying for my permanent resident ACR-1 card now. I have heard some people come here without a return flight or a throw away ticket but I don't know if that is true because the airlines won't allow you to get a boarding pass.

Philippines: spam:

true ace, I had done the same thing, I always deleted spam but I have learned at least look at the spam but do not open the message because some might be a virus. I have found over the years that sometimes my good emails wind up in spam so I just move them to inbox.

Philippines: Some old hand advice please:

I feel for this guy. sounds like he has a good heart and she is taking advantage of him. How can you stay in Australia, (or anywhere) for 3 years without a passport. It sounds like a bad dream for him.

Philippines: Tie Up The Camel:

very true Chance2013, My wife and I have 3 pieces of land. One on a mountain top in Ormoc City, one on a mountain in Naghalin Kananga Leyte, and one in Guba in Cebu. I have the them all in her name. I am 66 and she is 38. The way I figure is, she will be well off when she gets older. She is a good women and has 2 loving sisters who have there own houses. I would not trust a lease here in the Philippines.

Philippines: So what is Province???:

The provinces of the Philippines are the primary political and administrative divisions of the Philippines. There are 81 provinces at present, further subdivided into component cities and municipalities. A barangay, formerly called barrio, is the smallest administrative division in the Philippines and is the native Filipino term for a village, district or ward. Many less fortunate people live in the Province.

Philippines: food from street vendors:

since coming to the Philippines and being married to a Filipino my wife has learned to cook without MSG which the natives use in everything they cook. I stay away from the seafood because it gives me high blood pressure. I do like yellow fin tuna. One thing that bothers me and cannot get a grip on it is the meat, fish at the markets. They are just left out in the open and the fly's lay their eggs on it, also at the markets you can see the cockroaches on the vegies. My wife brings the food home and washes it good before putting them into the fridge. She never gets sick. I have a low resistance so I get sick easy but I have learned what not to do and what to stay away from. Mostly all people here have bottled water. The less fortunate in the province drink well water like my wife did all her life before meeting me. I must say she loves my teaching her the things we have in America, eg. spices and seasonings. She has never tasted balsamic vinegar, Worchester sauce, mustard, oregano, etc.

Philippines: Need help selling my beauitiful home:

Can you please tell me where is the house located in Leyte. You mentioned your mother is 90 how young are you. I am an American 66 years, my wife is Filipino and 38. We live in Ormoc. How many sq. meters is the house. I need a clear understanding of the 3.5 million. What does that come with because you mentioned a van and Honda scooter so I am a little confused but I know can clarify that. Thank you so much. Anthony Gabriello

Philippines: NBI clearance:

Hello, I have been living here in the Philippines since January 2014. I have my ACR-1 card and I am applying for my permanent resident status to stay. One of the requirements is to have the NBI clearance. I applied for it in Tacloban July 7th. It is now August 20th and checked with them yesterday. They said it is still in progress. My questions is this. Has anybody had this long of a wait. I have been told it should only take 2 weeks. Thank you, Tony
