Philippines: Water Heater & washing machine:
Additional question: can anyone recommend a heavy duty washing machine.
Thanks
Ron
Philippines: Auto Scams:
We are so worries about the scams of used cars out there, we decided to buy our next car at BDO Auction. Its basically repo cars, most are in good shape, body and interior.
Philippines: Gated Subdivisions around Tagaytay/Silang/etc.:
We bought a property at Eagle Ridge Golf course. The lot varies from 250 sqm, to 700 sqm. The problem buying a property in Cavite area is the time it takes to transfer a title. I think it takes more than 9 months to transfer. Then another 9 months to build. Water is deepwell, electricity is not a problem and internet works well.
Since we got used to the wide open space of western living, we decided to build on a property.
Philippines: Never Trust A Filipina:
Im Filipino, and this topic reminds me of what my grandfather told when I was a young buck, "Never marry a white girl, she will just take your hard earned money and run". But those sayings were the belief of the past. Never really paid attention to it, I still dated a white girl in college, hehe.
People need to realize the priorities in Women in Filipino culture.
#1 God
#2 Parents
#3 Husband
#4 Children
Philippines: U.S.A.:
Sonny, you need to be a Filipino or dual citizen to be able to own and carry a firearm. Remember, owning and carrying are 2 different licenses.
Philippines: USA Green card:
Good day friend,
I would suggest to get her US citizenship first before making any move outside the US. Later, she can apply for dual citizenship at any Phil embassy in the USA or at the Bureau of Immigration in the Philippines.
If you give up your green card, do you still get your earned SSA? or any retirement benefit from work?
Philippines: TV fanatics:
Movies and TV series can bought by digital transfer from a local tech shop. Bring in your USB drive, hard drive, or ipad, they will transfer movies, tv shows for P200-P500, depends on the negotiation. But P500 is for more than 20 current movies, and all the tv shows you want, games of thrones etc.
Philippines: Living in Manila with my family:
If you are planning to buy a property and live in Manila, I suggest to do some research. If you buy a property within 25 meters of a river be prepared for flooding. Metro Manila is over populated and the drainage system was last updated during the Marcos regime. I believe the population density is greater than NYC, because of fast construction of high rise condominiums.
We've a property outside of Metro Manila, General Trias Cavite, close to Tagaytay, Im hoping to build a house on it very soon, the traffic and the noise in Manila will drive anyone nuts.
Philippines: USA health Insurance:
I still have US healthcare coverage from my previous employer, (part of severance package), at least for 5 years. Is there any medical centers in Manila that accepts kaiser plan?
If theres none, we will be paying a surgery out of pocket and get reimburse later from Kaiser. But, I might have to fly back to the states and file the necessary claim.
Any help is much appreciated.
Its been a crappy week.
Philippines: Handling beggars:
What I've done with beggars in the past especially if im on my way to jollibee, I would buy 3-4 burgers and give it to the kids that were begging outside. I never give any beggars cash.
