Spain: HELP! Australian wanting to move to spain:
Kwelbi is absolutely correct.
Netherlands: Migrant Issues:
Yes would love to see the answer.
Spain: Permanent Relocation Investigation:
Other 2 responses are correct. It is 90 days in all of Schengen territory NOT per country. And then you need to be out 6 months. They don't mess around with this either. The rail and airport checks can be what gets you. I am an American with permanent UK residence and I don't get a break on Schengen because I am not a UK national. I overstayed about 3 weeks in Holland and was threatened with arrest and deportation at Eurostar passport control in Belgium en route back to Uk. I was nice AND I had my service dog with me and the officer said it was my lucky day. You will also have a problem renting if you don't have a visa. You would think that with all the refugees coming legally and illegally they would have their hands full and you could get around it. But NO. Deportation is a serious deal. Aussies, Kiwis and Americans in particular are viewed as arrogant if they don't research SCHENGEN and officials don't usually cut them any slack. It that were not the case I would be in NL residing permantly.
No visa = no bank local bank account = no rental agreement or utility services. And don't forget you are required to register locally when you arrive for your 90 days.
Spain: retiring in Spain:
Wow you are an angry self righteous person.
Netherlands: Need info on Visa:
Good luck! I tried for a year. It is very very tough.
Netherlands: making friends- early 20's:
It's not about age, it is about who you know and who they know. And they may have kids.
Spain: Americans retired in Spain and Medicare Part B:
If it were me, with the instability around the world I would not rule out going having to go back to the US at some point. Prob worth keeping if it is not too expensive for you. The question to ask is if you cancel it and then need it again would you pay a penalty forever like you do if you don't sign up for Medicare in that initial window when you turn 65. That particular penalty is forever. So maybe check on it. Would love to know what you find out.
Hungary: If The United Kingdom Leaves The EU:
Thank you for your perspective. It was helpful to me as an American who has lived in the UK and Netherlands and was thinking of maybe moving to Budapest.
Netherlands: How to move to Amsterdam?:
Next to impossible. You will not get a job without a resident visa to stay. Schengen rules allow you to stay for 90 days on a visitors visa. That' it. You will also have a problem renting without a residency visa. You don't get one just by asking. Dutch are very strict about this. Unless you are already an EU national (citizen) i it is almost impossible. I speak from experience. Sorry.
Netherlands: Moving services from Netherlands to US:
Strange as it sounds when I returned to the US 2 years ago I found it was actually cheaper to mail the boxes. If you have 20 boxes, at approx 50-60 boxes each you still would not get someone to move your boxes for under 1000-1200 euros. I just started mailing on a daily basis from a postal unit in a grocery store. I was in a town that had no proper post office. You might check with KLM cargo but that isn't usually cheap, but may be more so than a mover. Also go to a large storage rental place . Sometimes they can refer. Or may even do it. My storage facility in England did shipping. Good luck.
