Ecuador: TransExpress or GlobalBox?:
I just use USPS and have friends in the US mail things to me here. Takes 3-5 weeks for arrival but is less than 8 lbs. and less in value than $400, arrives just fine, duty free. I have my local phone number put on the package and the PO here will call sometimes to advise pkg is here.
Ecuador: Where to get the best cottage cheese anywhere in the country of Ecuador (Disclaimer: Though perhaps not the Oriente):
Cottage chesse is easy to make at home. Go online and can easily find recipe on how to make it. Understand they have sour cream at Supermaxi but have not yet looked for it myself.
Ecuador: Medical Insurance for Older ExPats:
Actually, I will be 75 years of age this year and have the national IESS insurance that costs me $73 a month and covers 100% of medical, dental, and vision care. I use my own doctors of choice for most things here and they charge $23-35 per visit but have the IESS insurance for emergency care and ones I know who have used it are very pleased, even with serious issues. No cut off age....just pay my $73 at the bank monthly here to maintain coverage.
Ecuador: books in Equador:
I download books to my I-pad from Bookshout and most are free but get all the reading I want and can buy books there too. Yes, there are bookstores that have English books here and many buy from there or they have times for trades meetings here too so people can share. Should have no problem. Do wish had held onto some favorites of mine, though but shipped a few here.
Ecuador Welcome Forum: Prostitution:
Yes, it is and they are medically examined, etc. Red light district in Cuenca will be moved to outskirts of the City in 2016, thankfully.
Ecuador Welcome Forum: Also thinking of moving to Ecuador:
Imported vehicles here have to be of the current year's model (new) and then you will pay 50% in duty so best to buy one here. Sorry, they don't allow antiques and classics to be imported. They do an annual mechanical vehicle inspection here of ALL vehicles. If they tell you that you need new tires or something you must do it even if the tires are good for another six months. Cost is $600 a year for the inspection am told. So it's pricey and not easy to own a vehicle here. Public transportation or even a private driver is easy and inexpensive though.
Ecuador Welcome Forum: New to the Exchange - looking for Advice:

You can email me at sueettajoyce@yahoo.com for more details and please ignore some of the constantly rude people on this forum. Gringo Tree is better for kinder responses I find. That said, will assist you as I can as I seem to find myself doing that a lot these times and don't mind a bit as there were those here for me during my transition to a new culture and home.
Ecuador: Looking to Travel to Quito or Cuenca in JAN FEB or MARCH 2016:
