Uganda: SWF Moving to Uganda:
Hello,
It depends where you are going to live, as each city is different. I'll assume that you're going to Kampala, and it's a good place. It has some crime, lots of traffic jams, but the weather is good, not too hot, not cold, with lots of rain. Kampala has several shopping malls where you can find grocery stores that carry most anything. The biggest complaint that I hear from other expats in Uganda is the corruption and the frustration of how slow and poorly things are ran. If you want to PM me more detailed questions I would be happy to answer. I don't live in Kampala but I visit there regularly.
Uganda: Do I need vaccination to visit Uganda:
Hello,
They do NOT check. The visa can be purchased for $100, not $50 as it used to be..as far as I know it's the same for Canadians as it is for Americans. You'll need a newer US bill. Have cash, not a credit card handy. If you are going to be traveling around East Africa then ask for a Comesa multiple entry visa, and be ready to show proof of your travel plans in case they ask.
Have a fun trip!
Uganda: Buying a Dog:
Did you ever ding a German Shepherd? I am looking for one too!
Thanks.
Matt
Colombia: Rent now, retire later? Where in Colombia?:
I agree with both the other contributors. With your budget you could really stay in Paradise, but in Colombia you'd be a big target. Colombia is better and safer than is used to be, but there are TONS of safer places. Like beforementioned, I would take vacations and spend a couple of weeks in different towns before buying. Good luck!
Colombia: Cars for sale:

Colombia: Family Style Attractions:
What city are you going to? Near Medellin there is Los Tamarinos water parque, which is near Santa Fe de Antioqia. Also, near Rio Negro is El Pignon, a really cool rock that you can climb up...there are farms where you can stay at, they have swimming pools, sometime horse riding, zip lining, etc. Do you know what part you want to see?
Colombia: Job as an English teacher in Quindio, Colombia:
There are plenty of English schools in Armenia, plus the English K-12 school...do you have a teachers credential? What's your experience?
Colombia: Marrying in colombia:
Hi there, you need to give more info to be able to answer your question better. What type of visa will you have? Here are all the visas you can have http://www.cancilleria.gov.co/tramites_servicios/visas/clases
How long would you like to be out of the country for? Are you thinking months or years? Are you planning on short stays on a tourist visa?
Colombia: Moving to Medellin to study:
Hi Russell,
Are you moving to study Spanish, or a different subject? I had a Spanish teacher in Medellín who was great and she often times rents one of her rooms to her students so they can learn by 100% immersion. Should I put in contact with her?
Colombia: Moving from Costa Rica to Columbia:
I lived in Medellín for a year. There's no way you could live there for $1,500 USD a month, without living in the poor neighborhood, and like the locogringo said, they'll probably kill you. Sorry, not to burst your bubble. If you're looking for a nice place to retire on very little money, look elsewhere. I still live in Colombia, and I wouldn't move back to Medellín for any reason. Look somewhere else and somewhere safer. Personally, I know that CR is getting expensive, but it's your best bet. I have friends that live in Ecuador, but I haven't been so I can't comment, but you might look into that.
