Panama: Thinking about going to Cuba:

Hi great article. One point tho'--don't confuse socialism with communism. They are very different.

Panama: Advise and Info Welcome:

Panama: New household shipping service in Chiriqui.:

Good morning, Great idea! Have you determined any pricing as yet regarding small packages and the "shared container space"? I am interested in such a service. Jack

Panama: Purchasing Property in Panama:

One word of advice--DON"T buy! RENT, It allows you the freedom from maintenance, insurance, general upkeep etc and, you can come and goes as you please and lastly, you still have all of your cash!

Panama: Canadians in Panama:

Hi--I too am a Canuck and have lived here in Panama (Chiriqui) for 9 years. Panama is a great place to live but if I may offer some advice--do not be too hasty to buy! I suggest you rent for several months so as to allow you to get the true feeling of an area. Renting offers flexibility. There is much to learn--believe me! I am more than happy to chat with you and pass on what I have learned. I have some great and some "not-so-great" tales. All the best Jack villadavina.com

Panama: Kathleen Peddicord:

Good morning all, Some of what has been written is correct and some is not. I have lived here for 9 years, had colonoscopies, hernia operation, jaw bone rebuilt, major eye diagnostics etc and overall, I am very pleased with the care, quality of work and the price--and I am a Canadian--read as free healthcare in Canada. I do not live in the "tourist traps" but in a rural location not far from the border with Costa Rica and the people are poor but friendly, courteous and genuine. The problems are minimal. I have 2 suggestions for you--1, don't start a business here as it can be a complete nightmare (I have 2 active businesses) and 2--read Kathleen's reports but the come and visit for at least 6 months. Without actually living and experiencing Panama in person, everything is just hearsay! After 9 years here, losing and winning in biz I would not want to live any place else. Come and see for yourself! Jack

I sent you a "private email" but no response.

Panama: Ready to take the plunge and wondering if it's safe to be a SWF in Panama:

Good morning, Your reasons for getting out sound very sound to me. As you are "not ready to retire" you will need to support yourself here and it will be next to impossible for you to actually get a "job" so you will need to have disposable income. Panama City is a typical large, crowded city and not for me. I like the rural areas which I see as being safer and more suited to my tastes but then you lack the convenience of dining and entertainment choices. I have lived all over the Caribbean, Colombia, Nicaragua and CR and of all the places, I have found Panama to be the best --at least for me. If you wish additional info please send a private message and if I have the info, I am happy to pass it on. Jack
