Cambridge - soccer clubs?

Our family of 4 will be moving to Cambridge, UK later this summer for 1 year. The school that our children (ages 10 and 7) will likely attend does not offer soccer for girls (!), and apparently soccer is not part of the curriculum for boys my son's age either (it is only available for younger boys). Could anyone recommend a community based soccer club for girls and boys in the central/east side of Cambridge? Likewise are there any "informal" soccer clubs for adults (my husband is also a soccer fan).
Also any other tips/advice for how to meet other families (expat or otherwise) in the Cambridge area would be most welcome. Thanks!

Soccer is called football here so you might try googling Cambridge football clubs.

Call the local council and ask them. Just make sure you use the term "football". Only Americans say "soccer", unless a non-American is talking to an American and is trying to be helpful to the American.

There are clubs and leagues that aren't part of the school system (competition for children being considered bad - don't understand it ourselves, but there it is).

As it is with anywhere you go, you'll find like minded people in the places you like to go. Churches are good starting places. Believe it or not, but a proper local pub is also a good spot (many mommy and me groups spotted there in an afternoon with a few bottles of wine and their children running about). If you get involved in the local sports leagues, you'll find many folks rather quickly. Being outside of London, they'll be much friendlier than London.

Mildenhall AFB isn't too far down the road. See if they've got anything on for expats in the area (don't know, but it's worth a shot).
