What advice would you give someone preparing to move to your area about the actual move, choosing a neighborhood and finding a home?
it's important to be where you feel safe and where you are close to what is important, be it the beach and the nightlife, or the friends you've made, or other ex-pats..i would rent on the beach, and meet people, before deciding where you want to live...even if you've been a vacationer, it's not the same one you live there...get used to everything being at a much slower pace, and going without electricity and water, sometimes...but there is never a lack of something go on, where there is music and laughter and people... What advice would you offer others about banking abroad?
Commercial Banks in Jamaica require you to have letters of recommendation from public officials like police officers and clergyuman who can claimn they have known you 6 months or more. You will also need a letter of recommendation from a current account holder before you can gain an account. For new or first time visitors it becomes nearly impossible so I went with the Builders Society because they do not have the same requirements. (Continue)
