Investment Counsellors

A Business Opportunity: EFS is currently seeking entrepreneurially minded individuals to train and to assist in their development in the world of Investment Counselling. This opportunity exists for individuals who are charismatic, highly focused and highly energised. This is a business opportunity and the compensations are results based. Details:

1) Enjoying meeting new people and providing information as regards saving for their childrens' college costs and their own retirement security etc. Assisting with capital gains planning, estate planning and risk management. 2) Education: Many successful Investment Counsellors possess at least a bachelor's degree. As an Investment Counsellor you may wish to get your Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation. This requires passing a comprehensive exam that covers specialties in financial planning, such as real estate, portfolio management and tax planning. This can be an asset If you go into business for yourself. 3) Skills Needed Though you might consider this opportunity because you are strong in mathematics or have a knack for the markets, the most important attribute for success is your 'sales' ability. Your first order of business as an Investment Counsellor is to metaphorically 'pound the pavement' and build your book of business. If you are not gregarious, a natural people person and an insatiable networker, the odds are stacked against you. Being good with people is the single most important skill for basically anyone under the broad umbrella of financial advising. 4) Income: The average annual income for full time Investment Counsellors is circa $80,000. But depending on effort and performance, your income could be higher. 4) Work/Life Balance: unless you are a 100% 'natural' for this role, you will need to allow for some long hours if working full time. During the first year or so there will be a lot of time spent on client acquisition. Persevere through the 'hard work' in the 'early' years and build a substantial book of business, and you can enjoy a strong income and the lifestyle that comes with it. And possibly go onto build your own network of Counsellors.
