Some expatriates, for many reasons, are hesitant to join expat clubs when they move overseas. Don't fall into this trap. While they vary in size, membership and mission, these organizations can be a great way to accelerate the settling-in process.

The clubs around the globe are very diverse in their focus. They tend to have a central focus, such as one of the following:

University Alumnae
Athletics
Professions
Nationality
Pursuit of the Arts

Some are exclusive, but most are open and will enjoy adding another member even if you don't fall into their demographics or areas of interest. The expat life is, after all, about expanding horizons, isn't it?
