Moving all around the world with your family and children is probably one of the few tasks in the world that requires so much flexibility.

There are many advantages of being an expat: Seeing the world, learning new cultures, meeting different people and the chance to enrich your life with new experiences. In the life of an expat family, the family itself is very important. It is the core of what will provide the children with a sense of security they may otherwise miss with all the moving, changing schools and losing friends. The family and the home will actually be their base. For this reason the family and the acceptance and understanding parents can provide in that environment is very important.

Of course it is not only the children that need support during this time. The parents also need time to adapt. This may be a bit more easier for the husband as he mostly starts work in an office that has a certain office culture if its a global company. That is not to say that many multinational companies are not affected by local customs and ways of doing business. Infact, in some eastern cultures, it may be more difficult to do business without knowing the customs first. Here again, flexibility of the person becomes an important issue.

As for the wife, and /or mother, expat life is challenging and fun at the same time. But on her also lies a great responsibility: To manage the house, the kids and get settled in as fast and smoothly as possible so as not to cause too much waves in the family environment.

This is where www.ykcguide.com comes in. We make sure that we help an expat family feel at home when they first arrive and with our firsthand experience and knowledge, we promise to inform our families with all the information they need and desire. Because first impressions are very important and we like to make a good first impression. We know that a smooth beginning will ensure a faster adaptation period and allow for the flexibility necessary to adjust to this new country, culture and language.
