"The 'Psst Amigo' Mexican Restaurant, Pauwstraat, Arnhem, The
Netherlands is a great place you should visit if you're ever in the
area and in need of a restaurant that to us offered everything. A great
atmosphere, the friendliest of Staff, fast service and excellent,
fresh, tasty, nicely presented authentic food.
Just before I take you there and tease the taste buds, let me tell you
about Arnhem the city, as this place was the site of one of the
messiest and most fierce battles in World War II history - all over a
bridge.
Firmly marked into the history books is Arnhem where a 4 day fight and
struggle took place between the Brits and the Germans at either end of
a now famous bridge some 60 years ago; perhaps you saw the film "A
Bridge Too Far"? - Well this is that bridge and the city. The bridge
still stands, and is worth a nostalgic look...
So, to the Mexican 'Psst Amigo'. It's situated in the social centre of
Arnhem, amongst other bars, cafes, restaurants and the odd dance club
and is firmly established, I think for some 20 years or more. It's
certainly not hard to find and is right around the corner from the main
shopping centre.
The inside is a lot bigger than it first appears -- there's a small outside eating area, too.
Decoration is spot-on, very 'Mexican' and cosy, lots of little things
dotted everywhere and colourful, too. One thing I have found on my
travels and that is, no matter where I go, if the music is sometimes
not in keeping with the style of restaurant that I am in, then I usually get
a great meal - and this was no different!
You'll have no problem with language barriers, menus are also available
in English, and food is well priced for the generous portions,
quality and service.
