Living the vida Riyadh and other insights to the lands of Scheherezade by a Greek Australian
There are no travel brochures to Saudi Arabia and most of us know her (actually him!) only by what we read in the media. As an expat I reveal what it is like to live here and interact with the many nationalities that have chosen Saudia as their home. I have been a trailing spouse to Indonesia(Jakarta 1995, Sulawesi 1997, Middle East (Qatar 2006, Dubai 2008, Abu Dhabi 2009). Taught English in a language center in Doha which was an ideal way of mixing with nationals and other cultures. Studied cross-cultural awareness and anthropology which helps me to blend into a new culture without too much drama. Survived riots in Sulawesi during Asian financial crisis, was in India during 9/11 and in Goa during Mumbai terrorist attacks so, Riyadh doesn't intimidate me. Have been to India on several occassions with a business venture and alternatively I have helped start an orphanage and small community projects there. My ideal holiday would be a journey on the toy train to Darjeeling with a week's stay in the Windemere Hotel. A favourite holiday destination is Greece.
I can speak Greek,English, Bahasa Indonesia
Other interests include artisan arts and crafts, cooking, history and all things vintage.
