BONJOUR, and bienvenue to UrbanTravelGirl, a blog featuring my thoughts on black women living globally through international travel. A native of Chicago, I’m a passionate believer in the ability of travel to not only transform the way we see the world, but ourselves. As an African-American woman, I’ve developed an even stronger sense of who I am by visiting more than 30 countries and territories -- and by living outside the United States. I spent nearly one year working as a freelance writer and communications consultant in Florence, Italy, and NOW live in the charming French village of Samois-sur-Seine, about an hour south of Paris.
I hope to spark conversation among black women --and readers from many other backgrounds, nationalities and cultures -- who love or WANT to travel abroad and who are never happier than when they’re in new and challenging foreign environments.
My motto: “You’re never more than one flight or train ride away from an amazing adventure!”
