What activities, clubs and organizations would you recommend to newcomers to help them meet others?

Tons to do here to meet others--the usual church, school and neighbors, but also try Business After Hours, book groups at Horizon Book Store, a writer's group--see the Petoskey News-Review for volunteer groups. Enjoy!

In terms of religious, racial, economic and cultural diversity, are the people of this city or town diverse? Are they accepting of differences? Describe.

Very typical all-white American small town, but well educated community that is tolerant and welcoming. More & more it is becoming diverse little by little.

What are the main industries in this city? What types of career opportunities commonly exist? How do most people find new jobs?

Many job openings at the regional hospital here--not too much industrial, but many in the resort & hospitality industry.

If a friend of yours was thinking of moving to this city or town from far away, what other advice would you give them.

Wonderful place to live, especially if you already are married and/or have children. Sometimes you will feel isolated and like you are in a fish bowl, but overall, it is an amazingly cultural, educated small town.
