Turkey Public Announcement

This Public Announcement is being issued to alert U.S. citizens to a possible terrorist incident in Turkey. This Public Announcement expires on May 22, 2002.

The U.S. Government has received unconfirmed and fragmentary information that suggests unknown terrorists may be planning to conduct a terrorist incident, possibly to include activities directed against Civil Aviation.

The Government of Turkey has already taken all prudent measures to address this possible incident. The U.S. and Turkey continue to consult and cooperate fully together in the war on terrorism.

The U.S. Embassy in Ankara is located at 110 Ataturk Boulevard. The U.S. Consulates are located in the following Turkish cities: Istanbul, at 104-108 Mesrutiyet Caddesi; Adana, at the corner of Vali yolu and Ataturk Caddesi. The U.S. Consular Agent in Izmir is located at Kazim Dirki Caddesi 13/8, Atabay Is Merkezi, Daire 805.
