Uganda Travel Warning
Issued by U.S. State Department
Mar 09, 2001
In the lead up to Uganda's March 12 presidential election, there have been large demonstrations throughout the country, especially in the capital, Kampala, and in Rukungiri District in western Uganda. Because some of these demonstrations have turned violent, U.S. citizens should exercise caution and avoid large crowds during the period of time surrounding the election.
For further information, consult the Department of State's latest Consular Information Sheet for Uganda at http://travel.state.gov.
This Public Announcement expires on April 10, 2001.
