"We are both retired and find that life here in the US has become somewhat less than palatable. Traveled to Belize (Placencia) ten years ago and loved everything about it. We have decent but not bucks-up income from retirement so just getting more mileage out of our funds is one of the bigger reasons driving this train. I'm aware that some of the things we take for granted here are not always available elsewhere- But we don't live a lavish lifestyle as it is- So as long as the basics are covered, I'm not terribly worried about culture shock- but that's why we joined this forum- To get a reality check from those who can speak from experience." - Whereswaldo451

"I'm not the moderator but I just started reading this forum and have some suggestions for posts. Before stating something like you want to "move to Belize", do some basic research online, read a travel guide like Frommers or Lonely Planet, explore the whole country, learn about the various areas, etc. Please don't ask general questions like "where's a good place to live in Belize" or "how much does it cost to buy/build a house", etc. And I don't think this is the place for real estate people to promote their listings..if you are a private seller that's OK. Just my opinion :-)" - don92649
