In terms of religious, racial, economic and cultural diversity, are the people of this city or town diverse? Are they accepting of differences? Describe.
There is cultural diversity in Zurich although I'm not sure how accepting the Swiss are in the short time I have been here. As a single working mother and black, I feel somewhat isolated. It's not so easy to meet people. Also being a black professional I am disappointed that I haven't seen any black professionals around. I hope to be proved wrong.
What are the main industries in this city? What types of career opportunities commonly exist? How do most people find new jobs?
The main industry is finance - banking, wealth management, etc. Career opportunities are good but Switzerland is suffering like everywhere else around the world, following Sept. 11 with rising unemployment. As well as employment agencies, you can find jobs via the internet or newspapers.
In general, what are peoples' priorities in this city? For example, do lives revolve around work, family, socializing, sports, etc.?
In general life revolves around the family for the Swiss. If your a foreigner join a club to get to know people - especially iy ouare single. It's difficult to get to meet people outside of work.
