Parent's Review of Garden International School in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

Garden International School

In what town or city is this school located?

Kuala Lumpur

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

International with British Curriculum

What grade levels are represented at this school?

reception to Yr 13

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

Bus

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

Great - classrooms are well resourced. Sports facilities are also good. Pool, basketball coutrs, tennis courts, feild, astro turf etc.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

Fantastic induction programme and I hear the EAL programme for those EAL issues is excellent. Repatriation to the UK should not be a problem as the school follows the NC up to year 9 and then the IGCSE and A level system.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

There is a PTF but not my game as I feel it is so full of people who just want to whine - it is a shame because I'm sure this could be a positive organisation is the people who attended (e.g. the parents!) were more positive!

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

Go for it - the kids will have a really good time and will be well prepared for what is ahead of them in life whatever age they are when they entol. As for the previous posting of go to Alice Smith - by all means if you want your kids mixing with the brats we all thought we had left behind in the UK!
