How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?
Facilities are rustic, wooden buildings with beautiful views of the alpine location. Quaint small town in the middle of a ski area. There are two large green areas for the children to play with playground equipment on them. A boarding house and 3 school house buildings. Extra curricular activities include: skiing, horseback riding, tennis, language lesson, soccer, swimming, hiking.
What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?
The school follows the International Primary Curriculum, a curriculum that is topic based and that incorporates host - home country learning. So my child was able to compare characteristics of Switzerland with England. The math and English curriculum is very close to the British curriculum.
How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?
There is a PTA organization, as well as, many social functions that the school puts on for the parents. It is a small school and this allows for close bonds to be made by us parents.
What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?
Don't hesitate, enroll your child immediately. My child has grown in confidence, academic achievements and physical fitness since coming to JFK. Fabulous school!
