Parent's Review of Mutiara International grammar School in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

What is the name of your child's school? (Please report on one school per survey.)

Mutiara International grammar School

In what town or city is this school located?

Kuala Lumpur

How would you describe this school? (i.e. American, British, International, Local, etc.)

Malaysian

What grade levels are represented at this school?

5-16 years

How do most children get to school everyday? (bus, train, walk, etc.)

Drive/bus

How would you describe the facilities at this school? What extra-curricular activities are available?

Pretty poor. A few extra curricular activities but pales into insignificance compared to other international schools.

What has this school done to help your child transition from the curriculum in your home country into the curriculum in your new country? Are there programs to prepare your child for repatriation?

None. The assessment is a joke, and there is nothing done in regard to special needs. A lot of tutoring outside school is done to catch up on what is not being taught during school.

How would you describe the social activities available for parents through this school? Are there parent-teacher organizations?

Smoke and mirrors. School "invites" parents to some social events, but keeps parents at bay as much as possible.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling their child in this school?

Please look elsewhere. The teachers who actually know what they are doing move on very quickly. Most of the teachers are local and do not get paid enough, or have suitable qualifications. The owners haven't a clue how a school should operate, and think that fancy courses and being affiliated to an international school organisation (they aren't yet able to be a member) is sufficient. Constant talk about A levels and moving to new premises, but its all waffle.

It is a dreadful school, especially compared to others like ISKL, Garden, Alice Smith and Mon kiara.
