What advice would you give someone preparing to move to your area about the actual move, choosing a neighborhood and finding a home?
I’ll give the same advice everyone else gives, come by and stay a couple of months, visit different parts of the country THEN make your decision
What type of housing do you live in? Is this typical for most expats in your area?
1 bedroom apt. Washer/Dryer, Internet. A couple of steps away from the beach. Living on an island [Ambergris Caye], you are NEVER to far from the beach. Yes, several expats live in the suburb type area.
How did you choose your neighborhood and find your home or apartment?
I lucked out with a bit of alone research. I found a listing on a Belizean rental site. The apt ended up being in the suburb area, for a 1 bedroom that ended up costing the same price as rent in the center of town and other parts of town usually where the locals live.

Are your housing costs higher or lower than they were in your home country? What is the average cost of housing there?
Lower. Average cost with some amenities is $400 US, I also have heard that for that price or a little more you can rent a whole house instead.
